LTC Eugene W. Bowers passed away on December 3, 2022, in Tallahassee, Florida after an extended illness. Eugene is survived by his wife, Carol, children, and grandchildren.
Eugene retired from the Marine Corps as a Lieutenant Colonel. During the Vietnam War, Capt. Bowers was Hotel Company’s Commander and served as our Skipper through November 1967.
According to the 2/5 Command Chronologies 1967, Captain Bowers successfully led his men into battle in Operation Essex in the Antenna Valley, engaging in heavy hard-fought combat destroying the NVA enemy and maintaining complete control of all critical areas of the TATOR.
