BRONZE STAR RECIPIENTS

The Bronze Star is the tenth-highest ranking award a service member can receive for a heroic and meritorious deed performed in an armed conflict. Established in 1944 as the Bronze Star, allowing servicemen to receive it having distinguished, herself or himself by heroic or meritorious achievement or service, not involving participation in aerial flight—

  1.  while engaged in an action against an enemy of the United States
  2. while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an opposing foreign force
  3. while serving with friendly foreign forces engaged in an armed conflict against an opposing armed force in which the United States is not a belligerent party.

The Bronze Star Medal (BSM) is a United States Armed Forces decoration awarded to members of the United States Armed Forces for either heroic achievement, heroic service, meritorious achievement, or meritorious service in a combat zone. This bronze star medal is a personal valor decoration awarded for gallantry in action against an enemy of the United States as presented by the President of the United States.
