Thanks Rick for giving us this good information about your involvement in those early days of the Vietnam War with H 2/5. Thanks for logging in and leaving a comment.

I believe I was connected a long time ago but just logged in new. Was a member of H/2/5 Wpns Plt (guns) 1st squad and joined the unit at Camp Margaritta in Dec 65. Shortly after joining, SSgt Sheets informed me I was a machine gunner, the only time I had a M60 was fam fire at ITR, anyway, had a long trip on the USS Bexar to start learning about the gun. Trained at NTA, Okinawa, then after a lot of training, boarded the USS George Clymer and sailed for Viet Nam, making a beach landing after hearing a lot of bangs and seeing a lot of flashes the night before. Was transferred from H/2/5 to H/2/7, Wpns Plt a few months after arriving with 2/5.
