2/5 Company Participation by Operation

Which companies of the 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines took part in each operation, 1966–1971. Read from the battalion command chronologies rather than from secondary accounts.

How to read it. Yes means the company is named in the record as taking part. Part of the company means a platoon or detachment only. Attached out means the company took part under another battalion. No means the record places it elsewhere. Not identified means the record is silent — it is not evidence that the company was absent.

Each operation links to its summary. For the detail of what a company did, see the 2/5 Companies Participated field in that operation’s document.

2nd BATTALION, 5th MARINES — WHICH COMPANIES TOOK PART IN EACH OPERATION

The battalion had no Weapons Company in this period: it was H&S Company plus Companies E, F, G and H. The weapons platoons sat inside the rifle companies and the 81mm Mortar Platoon in H&S.
